The former national cricket team captain, who hails from Mardan district, said he was short of words to express the emotional impact the horrific incident has had on him.
Khan delivered three kit bags containing shirts and gear donated by the New Zealand cricket team, to be distributed amongst the survivors. The Black Caps also handed him cheques which he announced to deposit in the school’s bank account. “The determination of these children is remarkable,” he said.
The attack occurred while a Pakistan-New Zealand cricket series was under way in the UAE. Recalling instances from the dressing room following the attack, Khan said the entire squad was in a state of shock and the New Zealanders shared the grief equally. Some of the players were not able to hold their tears back, he said, adding the Kiwis requested him to deliver their donations when they learnt he belonged to K-P.
