The bodies of two miners who were buried alive when a mine caved in were recovered after 36 hours, said police and locals on Tuesday.
An official of Sherwan police said owners of Frontier Mine were quarrying in the soapstone mine of Khanda Khoo village near Sherwan on Sunday evening.
The neighbouring Feroz Mine caved in due to heavy blasting in Frontier Mine, burying two miners alive of the former one.
Three other miners managed to escape unhurt, said the police.
Those who were buried under the debris were identified as Imtiaz Ahmed and Babu Tauqir, son of Babu Nazir, who is the owner of Feroz Mine.
The police said they started rescue work along with locals but only succeeded in recovering the bodies on Tuesday morning, 36 hours after the accident.
Poor safety arrangement by the mineral department and mine owners keeps hundreds of miners exposed to such threats across Hazara and such accidents occur frequently.
According to sources, over two dozen miners have lost their lives during the last two years.
