In solidarity: British boxer Amir Khan visits APS
Speaking to journalists on the occasion, the famed pugilist said that the killing of schoolchildren and staff at the APS deeply saddened him. “I was deeply shocked over the brutal killing of innocent children in the terrorist attack,” he added.
He said the December 16 attack was not only on the school but on the future of Pakistan. “The killing of innocent children is a crime against humanity. I’ve visited Peshawar to encourage the surviving students and to express solidarity with the bereaved families,” he said.
Earlier upon arrival, Brigadier Mudasir Azam received Amir Khan at the helipad at the Corps Headquarters, Peshawar. Amir lauded the sacrifices of the Pakistani nation and its security forces in the war against terrorism. He added that with the help of Pakistan’s army and its people “we can eliminate terrorism from Pakistan”.
Later, he also visited the Combined Military Hospital and inquired after the health of the injured students.
Amir also met with Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif in Rawalpindi and expressed solidarity with Pakistan’s armed forces.

Amir Khan is a good sportsman and a decent person. But it is wrong, misplaced to thrust upon him the status of a statesman or to give his visit the importance accorded to people on state visit. But the political parties are trying to get the extra mileage from his visit and using his popularity to mellow their own incompetence. This is the time for sober reflections and inward thinking, for atonement and reflections on the state of Pakistan's inability to protect its citizens. The PMLN and PPP have been exposed of their corrupt and incompetence. They are too busy making the last bucks as if there is no tomorrow.
