The SCBA president was addressing a gathering of lawyers at Rawalpindi District Bar Association on Wednesday.

The first ever female president of SCBA was of the view that that there were lots of problems being faced by the lawyers’ community.

However, she remained committed in resolving them. “Being president of the top bar of the country, I want to address all of these problems on priority basis,” she said.

During her maiden visit to the RDBA after becoming the president of SCBA, Asma said that she believed in an independent judiciary which she had worked for since an early age.

She said that there is a dire need to make the bars strong. If bars are strong, the judiciary would also be strong.

Asma appreciated the Supreme Court for summoning the heads of intelligent agencies in the court. However she said that there should be a check and balance on the judiciary as well.
