K-E defeated KPT 3-2 after a closely contested encounter to credit themselves with 38 points after the win.
Rasool scored the opening goal in the 29th minute to give K-E a 1-0 lead at the interval. Hosts KPT came back fighting in the second half as Zahid Ahmed equalised the score in the 50th minute, but Rasool saw the back of the net once more in the 52nd minute to maintain K-E’s lead in the match.
This, however, was short-lived as Zahid starred for his side with a second goal just six minutes later.
According to match commissioner Ali Nawaz Baloch, it was a battle not between the teams, but the two strikers, from which Rasool emerged victorious with his third goal in the 84th minute.
The Chitral-based striker said he was currently the top scorer in the league with 20 goals from the 17 matches he has played so far this season. “It was a great match,” Rasool told The Express Tribune. “So far, I’m the top-scorer and keeping that feat intact is my priority.
“Now that we are at the top of the table after the win, we are closer to winning the title this time.”
Meanwhile, KPT continue in eighth place with 23 points after 16 matches.
In the second match of the day, NBP defeated Railways 3-0 at the Korangi Baloch Stadium.
Sher Ali scored twice while Muhammad Asif contributed with a solitary strike.
NBP remain on the ninth spot with 22 points, while Railways lost their 10th match and stand at 11th with 10 points.
