Cheap energy: Financing of nuclear projects discussed

Projects will be jointly financed by China EXIM Bank and Pakistan by 82 and 18 percent respectively

ISLAMABAD: Director General Strategic Plans Division (SPD) Lt Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, called on the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday and briefed him about the financing mechanism of K2 and K3 nuclear energy projects. The projects, part of Pak-China Energy Corridor, will be jointly financed by China EXIM Bank and Pakistan in a ratio 82 and 18 per cent respectively. Gen Hayat said the projects would be the cheapest source of energy. He said that the project would use very secure and highly efficient third generation equipment. The minister appreciating the efforts of Economic Affairs Division and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in making a plan for this project said another meeting should be held on the same projects next week.
