FAISALABAD:

“Faisalabad has been divided into 15 zones to maintain a reliable water supply to all parts of the city,” said Water and Sanitation Agency Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz on Saturday.

He was addressing a meeting to review water supply situation in the city.

Housing and Physical Planning Department Secretary Arshad Mehmood was also present.

Aziz said Rs13 billion was being spent on uplifting water supply schemes in the city. He said counters would be set up in each zone to address consumers’ complaints. He said the consumers would also be able to pay their bills at these counters.

Aziz said there were thousands of unregistered consumers. He said the WASA had devised a plan to register all consumers in the city.

He said under a French financial assistance project, 37.9 million gallons safe water had been made available for the citizens. He said the WASA would switch to solar energy to reduce expenses. Later, the Housing Department secretary visited the site of the French project and expressed satisfaction with the progress.
