MANSEHRA:

A watchman of a local school has been accused of raping a woman in a village of Mansehra, police said on Saturday.

Police quoted Naeema Jan*, 35, of Kodar Sachan village saying she was at home with her three children on Wednesday night while her husband, a miner by profession, was at work in Sherwan area. She added Raj Muhammad, alias Raja, a watchman of Government Primary School, Kodar Sachan, entered their house by scaling the boundary wall.

Jan said the accused held her at gunpoint and proceeded to sexually assault her.

In the ensuing scuffle, Jan’s son Arshad woke up and attempted to overpower Raja who then managed to flee.

Police said Jan’s medical examination confirmed she was raped, adding the accused, however, is still at large.

Police added relatives of the accused were pushing to reach a ‘compromise’.

Meanwhile, Jan’s husband Ghulam Sakhi has threatened to protest if the accused is not arrested and taken to task.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, he said some influential figures from the area were pressuring him to reach a compromise with the culprits.
