Ajk shuttering collapse: Compensation for victims announced

The prime minister made the announcement during a visit to the NJHP site

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Friday announced Rs0.4 million compensation each for families of the victims who had died during the collapse a wall and shattering of the under construction  Neelum Jehlum Hydroelectric Project (NJHP) in Nowseri. The prime minister made the announcement during a visit to the NJHP site, some 40 kilometres away from the capital city, where a Chinese engineer and three local labourers had died, when the wall and shuttering of one unit of the project came crashing down on Wednesday. Majeed said that the NJHP was a national project and the people who lost their lives during work were national heroes. The AJK premier further said that everyone working on the NJHP was really contributing to Pakistan’s progress and history will remember their sacrifices in golden words. Work on the strategic 969 mega watts project is progressing at a fast pace and some of its units are expect to be operational late next year.
