On 138th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, gallery6 of Islamabad is offering original copies of LIFE magazine of January 5, 1948, which featured a portrait of Jinnah on its cover, said a press release.
The edition carries a story about Pakistan, the newly born nation of 70 million Muslims, from page 16 to 26 titled “Pakistan Struggles for Survival”. In the magazine, description about the cover page mentions “smouldering, hypnotic eyes staring out of Life’s cover this week” is of 72 year old Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Governor General of a young country. It mentioned that Jinnah’s health was failing and “recently he has been inaccessible even to his cabinet ministers, seeing only his devoted sister Fatima. But to Pakistanis he is still the Great Leader”.
The article refers to several other individuals in text and with their pictures like Lady Nusrat Haroon, Mir George Alimurad Khan Talpur, Wali of Swat, Khadeeja Feroze Udddin.
Price is Rs20,000 for cover, and Rs30,000 for the full magazine with an article on Quaid.
