While holding a press conference outside the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the governor added that the army and civilians should collectively work towards ending the scourge of terrorism in the country.
Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan also visited the mausoleum and laid a floral wreath on the grave and offered prayers for the founder of Pakistan.
Political parties and social, cultural and educational institutions have also chalked out various programmes to highlight the life and achievements of Jinnah, Radio Pakistan reported.
A change of guards' ceremony was also held at the mausoleum when cadets of Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, took over duty.
