LSE-25: Index gains 116 points

Total volume of shares traded for the day was 2.4 million

KARACHI: The Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) benchmark 25-share index increased 116.7 points (1.94%) to close at 6,003.27. Shares of 121 companies were traded on Tuesday, of which 42 closed higher, while 13 lost their worth and 66 remained unchanged. Early gain in momentum in the first hour of trading kept its impetus till the end, where a minor surge was witnessed in the final hour to close the intraday activities at a high. Total volume of shares traded for the day was 2.4 million, with The Bank of Punjab on top of the list of turnover with 802,000 shares. The three major gainers for the day were Pakistan Refinery Limited, Treet Corporation Limited and Cherat Cement Company Limited, while the major losers were Sitara Chemical Industries, Pakistan Petroleum Limited and Mari Petroleum Company.
