Five butchers were arrested by the district administration and Khazana police during a crackdown in Wahid Garhi and Pir Khana on Tuesday.
Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Shoaib said action was taken following multiple complaints about substandard meat being sold in different markets of the area. He added five butchers were arrested on charges of running an illegal slaughterhouse and selling substandard meat.
They were put behind bars for five months and fined up to Rs0.5 million.
