Coordination: Traders-police liaison committee soon

RAWALPINDI:

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika has said that a traders-police liaison committee will be formed soon to maintain the law and order situation and other issues facing the city.

While talking to Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Syed Asad Mashadi, during a visit to the chamber on Monday, Lalika said that the business community was the asset of the country and their security will be ensured at all costs.

He said that liaison committee will work like the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) to look into complaints of traders, who were often victimised by extortionists and criminals. He said that the problems being faced by the business community will be resolved on a priority basis.

Lalika urged the traders to trust the police and lodge their complaints without hesitation.

Mashadi suggested that the security guards should be trained by the police before they were hired by the traders for the security of major business centres.

While praising the police for overcoming the extortion issue in the city, he also demanded stern action against kidnappers.

The RCCI president also floated the idea of a new security system for the city which was appreciated by the RPO and ensured his support.

City Police Officer Humayun Bashir Tarar was also present.
