Govt support: Farmers get electricity at low rates
Govt is providing electricity to the farmers at a flat rate of Rs10.35 to facilitate them
LAHORE:
Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed has said that government was providing electricity to the farmers at a flat rate of Rs10.35 to facilitate them. Presiding over a joint meeting of Kisan Ethad organisations, Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) officials and chiefs of power supply companies, he said the government was giving a subsidy of Rs22 billion in this regard and this would continue next year as well. He said the Punjab government would take all possible steps to safeguard the interest of the farmers, adding that the Agriculture department and Wapda were bridging the gap between farmers. The minister also listened to the problems of the farmers and directed Wapda officials for a quick response to the problems.
