It should be mentioned here that Afridi, Muhammad Irfan, Fawad Alam, Anwar Ali and Wahab Riaz appeared in an advertisement for Haier, the main sponsors for the home series against Australia and New Zealand, which were played in the UAE.
Afridi had recently announced that he will retire from ODIs after the 2015 World Cup as he wants to walk away during his peak form.
“The board has issued show-cause notices to the five players who appeared in the ad without permission,” a PCB official told The Express Tribune.
“We’ll wait for their explanations and then it will be decided whether any action should be taken against them or not.”

PCB should try to stand behind their players firmly. BCCI always protect its players even the most undisciplined.
utterly ridiculous !!! are they school children? instead of formulating some real laws to protect the players, pcb is indulging in stupid power play
Afridi is what Messi is to Barcelona; Ronaldo is to Madrid; alot of people including myself watch cricket because of Afridi
Show Cause?? relax PCB Just take a chill Pill
The obvious question here is : Why they need to take permission from the board for featuring into an ad ?
@pakistani: It has nothing to do with India or Indian players. First, cricket rankings are flawed and the flaws are widely recognised. Second, Indian are number 1 in ODI because they play good cricket. Pakistani players are as disciplined as any other cricket team.
The other four players must be seriously disciplined but Afridi is above the laws, rules and discipline. He has immunity against press statements and politicking. Laws are made for less powerful people not for gang leaders..
Why "Showcause" only? The PCB should recover the amount these people have minted by illegally appearing in the advertisement and donate this money for the reconstruction of schools destroyed in the war on terrorism.
good, lets have some discipline around here. That's how india has become No 1 in ODI.
Waste of time. The amount of show cause notices PCB gives to Afridi throughout his career and then does nothing about it is laughable. Player power controls the game not PCB.
