Talking to The Express Tribune, Jibran Nasir said that he had received a call, allegedly from the spokesperson of TTP faction, Ehsanullah Ehsan. Nasir went on to add that he had recorded the conversation and verified the voice of the caller with the help of media contacts who were familiar with Ehsan's voice.
Nasir, however, made it clear that he would not back down from their planned protest today (Monday) outside the Lal Masjid. "We are not afraid. We are not backing out," Nasir told The Express Tribune.
"We are here to save our mosques. Our mosques should preach love and peace. They must present the right spirit of Islam," Nasir said, adding that he had a detailed debate with the TTP spokesperson on Islam before the spokesperson made his threats.
You can hear the recording made by Nasir below:
Further, Jibran said that the mobile number being used by the caller originated from Afghanistan.
The political activist also tweeted about the phone call and asserted that they will not back down.
Ehsanullah Ehsan Jammat-ul-Ahrar called today to ask us to back off from #ArrestAbdulAziz. Weve told him we are standing firm #NeverForget

An FIR was lodged against Maulana Abdul Aziz at the Aabpara police station on Friday, three hours after protesters had gathered outside it demanding the cleric be arrested for supporting the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Peshawar school massacre.
The TTP on December 16 stormed into an army-run school killing 148 people, including 132 children.
The Lal Masjid cleric openly sympathises with the TTP and militant group Islamic State and defended the dastardly attack in Peshawar as a reaction to a military offensive launched in North Waziristan.
A senior police officer told The Express Tribune, the government can revive quashed cases against Maulana Abdul Aziz by incorporating new evidence in the ‘challan’, as he is still believed to have a soft corner for the outlawed TTP and Islamic State.
According to Section 2f (c) of the Protection of Pakistan Act 2014, a case can be registered against the cleric for his support of terrorist groups, the official said.
Applying ‘innocent until proven guilty’ adage of the criminal jurisprudence, the previous government of the Pakistan Peoples Party had quashed all cases against Maulana Abdul Aziz.
Further, submitting to the huge outcry from civil society, Maulana Abdul Aziz apologised for failing to unconditionally condemn the Peshawar massacre.
“I condemn the killing of schoolchildren and apologise,” Aziz said while talking to The Express Tribune.
The protests against the cleric which started on Thursday will continue today for a fifth day in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Sialkot.
At present a large crowd is gathered outside Aabpara police station where Nasir along with Human Rights activist Dr Farzana Bari are adding new sections to the FIR registered against Maulana Abdul Aziz.
The activists are working to book Maulana Abdul Aziz under the anti terrorism act for inciting sectarian violence and for the threatening phone call received by Nasir earlier today.

Later, Nasir said he had submitted an application to add sections six, seven and eight of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 to the FIR against Maulana Aziz.
My statement as Witness recorded & also filing an application pointing to Police sections 6,7 & 8 of Anti Terrorism Act 97 #ArrestAbdulAziz

He added that the officials at that Aabpara station had sought time to complete their investigations before arresting Aziz.
Aabpara Police has requested 2-3 days to complete Investigation & #ArrestAbdulAziz. If they fail we gather again on Fri 5pm. Not giving up

@True Karachiwala: SPOT ON.Indeed Altaf Hussain is the strongest voice against Taliban and other terrorist outfit and this ilk of cleric as well.AH may Allah give you health and courage. Ameen
What remains left that Abdul Aziz is not TTP and ISIS ardent supporter. He must be booked under Anti terrorism Act.
All kinds of Taleban, IS, Al-Qaida factions etc, extremists and terrorists, are the only species that need to be made extinct, to create a better future for all.
Does the Government need any more proof that Aziz is closeted terrorist sitting in middle of Islamabad? Ch. Nisar talks about sleeper cell well this one is openly sleeping. Can you hear the snoring Ch. sahib??
Jibran Nasir, his colleagues, and comments (their likings as well) show how spot on is Altaf Hussain when he takes on likes of Abdul Aziz. No matter any one admits or not but AH will go down in the history brave and visionary leader. Jibran Nasir and all people here are agents of the change we desperately need, change of mind set. By the way Jibran Nasir happens to be a Karachiite who is doing more than his part of job there in Islamabad.
who give security to Mulana Abdul Aziz, and why give this facility.
Bravo! Shabash! Viva! Jibran brother you have made us proud to be your supporters. Our desultory politicians should be sent home...PERMANENTLY. We do not want politicians who ask the American ambassador to make him the Prime Minister. AND, that is none other than the JUIF chief, Fazalur Rahman. May Allah Almighty guide and protect you. Ameen. Salams
@globalobserver: Another nutcase out of the mental assylum...
@Shaikh Mohommad:
"I think our memory is very short. What really happened in Lal Masjid in 2007 was a massacre of unarmed people to please the US Government. "
Please don't spread lies. The 2007 Lal Masjit massacre was carried out by Musharraf to please the Chinese and not the Americans.
Is he clear that its not necessarily him but also the people around him who are being threatened.
Jibran brave man, if you succeed Pakistan will be free from fake Mullahs Like Aziz, Junaid Jamshed, Amir Liaquat and Jamat e Islami and their covers like Imran Khan
Jibran, is the true Mujahid of Islam and Pakistan. We have to help him in his struggle agian Taliban. May Alla Bless him his entire team and help in their efforts. If there is a need of finance please let us know we will send from other Pakistanies in US.
May Allah protect you Jibran Nasir..honest man..been struggling since forever.fighting our fight for us.
@Shaikh Mohommad - is your first name Khalid?
There is a video produced by girls at Jamia Hafsa in public support of IS and Abu Bakar Baghdadi. This video alone is evidence enough of what's happening inside this mosque. Don't forget the dozens of shops that were burnt down by these goons, the gaming cafes that were ransacked by these thugs and the many dozens of people they beat up for various reasons. You sir, need to be brought to your senses !
We are naive people and not ready to understand the terrorism game accurately/ properly. Anyone can observe that after such heinous crime of Peshawar, government has started another terrorist activity as hanging the terrorist which has created more fear in already feared society. While Ch Nisar the interior minister and much closed person to GHQ clearly said that madrasas are not involved in the terrorism... then who are Taliban? are they not ex- pupil of madrasas?... therefore, it is clear that the government of Pakistan or other powerful forces are not interested to go against the Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries ....who are funding the Taliban ... 2nd we yet not withdrawn from the strategic in-depth policy of Afghanistan ….3rd every one knows the Afghanistan is not local game but its international… one may read the Ahmed Rashids’ book “Taliban”
Jibran and other protesters, openly declare that if any harm befalls you or those around you, God forbid, all responsibility will be on the Cleric of Lal Masjid as he is the one who has threatened the protesters shamelessly and instigated the TTP to make threats against you. That he and TTP are joined at the hip is for all to see and any dastardly act of the Jamat ul Ahrar or TTP should be directly linked to Aziz and cohorts and they should be brought to ATT for making threats against people of the civil society.
Enough is enough of this naked blackmail and murderous threats.
We can only hope for a better Pakistan, if more Jibran Nasirs stand along Jibran. Salute you Jibran Nasir for your courageous stand !!!
The government has to learn this, they cannot please everyone. They condemn Taliban sympathizers and yet are lenient towards Aziz, who has political affiliations with JI and ASWJ. I think the government has to choose a side, they can't be the same hypocrites for ever. If they really care about innocent lives being lost due to their failed diplomacy. Don't accept it, don't come clean- but all the majority is asking that please pick a side. BAN preaching violence. If an organization, a political party, or an individual holds views of using violence on religious grounds, take immediate action, put them behind bars!
Even after such a devastating massacre like Peshavar, it is quite disappointing to come across commentators asking Nazir to look after his own safety, instead of rallying behind him in large numbers. If the general public are still thinking of and talking about the Taliban targeting Nazir to scare others, it means they are waiting for a still greater tragedy to occur. Don't people think that the loss of lives suffered so far is enough?
Please file charges against Lal Masjid cleric and his leadership team for the murder of 12 Army men including an officer, Lt Col Haroon Islam. Where is the justice for the family of these men? How could someone murder officers and men of the federation and not be punished?
These baisharam cowards, TTP, are a stain on the reputation of Islam. Ugly threats are their one and only penchant.
Dear Jibran you are gem of a person. Keep up the good work.
Its everyone's responsibility to expose these thugs now and clear this self created mess once for and all.
@Shaikh Mohommad:
Your mentality sucks dear.....!!!
This thug was doing things that were against the law of land and finally Pak Army had to intervene. Please understand and do not drag US or any other country into discussion its our war and mess that need to be cleared.
I thought its my moral obligation to try to help you understand this.
Thanks
I salute the bravery of those protesters who are standing up,to,the radicals who, have hijacked Islam...these terrorist are twisted and not following Islam at all...those who have the courage to stand up to the extremists should be supported by all true Muslims who want peace.
It is about time that common people of Pakistan should stand up with brave and courageous people like Mohammad Jibran and Ms. Bari,,,, against so called Taliban and all other fanatics who are using and abusing Islam for evil motives. We have already suffered a lot but future will be even worse if we did not stop them and their sympathizer and supporters. Salute to Jibran and others who are actively challenging this mindset.
@Asif Khan: Yes Jibran Naisr, you can always depend on a Karachitte, more power more courage to you, stay safe
@Swat_Khan:
Shame on you ! We are proud we still have people like Jibran Nasir who are standing against Taliban terrorists !
I think our memory is very short. What really happened in Lal Masjid in 2007 was a massacre of unarmed people to please the US Government. Bush Administration praised the massacre. Remember the dead bodies were hastily buried by the Military. Sometimes two or three bodies were thrown into a grave. When the family arrived to reclaim their dear ones, they could not find their sons or daughters. Yes, the Government should hold an enquiry into the Lal Masjid episode so that the culprits can be brought to justice. Lastly the master and servant relationship that exist between Washington and Islamabad should end – sooner the better.
This so called moulvi Abdul Aziz and TTP are two sides of the same coin.
While it is good for Jibran to stand firm, he must also understand that his life is in serious jeopardy. The TTP is likely to target him so as to create fear amongst those who want to raise their voices against them. This war has to be won, shahaadat nahin deni hai ek aur...And this war can only be won by fighting, not by becoming another one of a million martyrs. He must arrange for his security himself and be a little cautious.
FIR can & should be filed against Ehsan & also Moulana Aziz based on this taped conversion. He should handover copy of this tape to the govt, ISI, IB etc; & then let us see what steps they take. PPP is also an accomplice as cases against Moulana Aziz was quashed during their govt rule...why ? if innocent until proven is what is all about, then why the govt did not allow the law to take its own course & prove that Moulana was innocent ?
Salute you Jibran....you have put many to SHAME ! may Allah swt protect you. I know Jibran will not back down & so we too....enough is enough. Truth shall always prevail. If the govt does not take action after this tape, it will expose them also....
Jibran brother, be safe and if the government does not arrest Mulzim Abdul Aziz and his followers right away then we do not accept this government or its sleeping corrupt ministers. Where is Nawaz Sharif, where is the President, where is the interior minister, where is Shahbaz sharif, where is Zardari where is Rana Sanalullah, where is Saad Rafique, where is Khwaja Asif, where is Abid Sher Ali, where are all these loud mouth politicians when Pakistan needs them the most that a brave son of the soil like Jibran has to stand and fight the Taliban with no backing from anyone of these blabber mouths who would come and hog TV time and fight with everyone over petty issues and try to put Imran Khan and everyone else down so that they can continue with their crap and now are no where to be seen....wearing bangles at home thinking of the next place to make some commission and money from I suppose!
I am so proud of you my brother. You do not only fight for us, our mothers, sisters and children, but you are fighting for all that has to come for us in the future.
Jibran i salute you for what youve done but dont count me down and my sincere advice for the time being lie low please i.e. take a backseat as frankly these people are zombies! As frankly you've done your job well when it comes to creating awareness! God bless you brother, these people are savages and the army which is the powerful entity is dealing with them. You've created awareness as required. Take a tactical retreat plz! As we want you to serve our country proactively in times to come! Im really appreciative of what you've done but owing to being protective plz ensure you take a back seat for some time! God bless you brother! Leave it to the army as frankly ive no hope with our scardy political leaders!
Has the govt. provided enough security to him? He, and others of his ilk are the only hope that remains for Pakistan.
Gibran I salute you......you are fighting our battle for us.....while the government just looks on. After this if the government does not arrest and jail Abdul Aziz and close down the Lal Masjid complex.........we will know that we have a government that either sympathizes with or are afraid of the terrorists.
We are with you Jibran. Please don't back off. You have Allahs protection and your countrymen and women beside you.
@Swat Khan It takes a brave person to take a stand... not the sight or greed of a nobel prize. Shame on you for, firstly, not taking a stand and secondly, not disrespecting someone who has stood up to the bigots/fascists.
I bet the Taliban are afraid of Jibran now :-) cowards! Thmbs up and our prayers and support is with you Sir.
You are such a brave and handsome son of Pakistan Jabran. God bless you and others taking a righteous position. Shame on all the politicians and religious hypocrats still hiding behind their political objectives.
This guy is a legend and must be given high security to escort him. Salute You.
This guy is brave.
Proud of you Mr. Jibran, wish our leaders too had the guts to take such strong stands.
What sort of students (talibans) are these, who don't want to sort out differences with a dialogue rather in all of there statements they have always emphasized on giving threats and using force against an opponent (Mr. Jibran in this case).
This goes to show that they are using Madarssahs and Masjids for the wrong cause.
Another Pakistani likely to receive Nobel Peace Prize next year?? :DDD
all TTP factors are threat to Pakistan & government should provide security to Jibran .There's only one good Taliban and that is dead Taliban.
Shame on Nawaz Sharif for sleeping over this. He is now Tali-nawaz
Should we be surprised? Ch. Nisar told in his statement that Aziz's father was very close to him and a patriot. So???? Does that mean Yazid's father be set as an exemplary to justify Yazid's position.. Ch. Nisar and his team damn know they are culprits in supporting the extremist elements to protect their own skin. Shame is a small word for them.
