Spurred by the dry and chilly weather coupled with frost in a few areas of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prices of most of the leafy vegetables witnessed almost 50 per cent rise in local primary food and commodity markets during the past week.
Prices of a single bunch of spinach, fenugreek (methi), green onion, coriander leaves, green salad and green mint increased from Rs5 to Rs10 as compared to the previous week, moreover, rates of beans increased by Rs12 per kg which was being traded at Rs60 per kg, as compared to Rs48 of previous week in Sunday markets of Islamabad.
Tomato prices too shot up slightly from Rs56 kg to Rs60kg.
However, other commodities including grains, vegetable ghee and cooking oils, sugar, black tea, chicken, mutton, beef and fish remained stable are previous week levels.
