Threat: Medical colleges close for winter

The medical colleges and hospitals have been directed to improve security arrangements and implement the security SOPs

LAHORE: Medical colleges in the province will remain closed from December 20 (today) to January 9, 2015. This was announced at a meeting between principals of public medical colleges and Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique at the Civil Secretariat on Friday. The medical colleges and hospitals have been directed to improve security arrangements and implement the security SOPs announced earlier. Health Secretary Jawad Malik said in the first phase, they will ensure implementation of SOPs at medical colleges and teaching hospitals. In the second phase, the SOPs will be implemented at district and tehsil headquarters hospitals. Malik said walkthrough gates would be placed at entrances to colleges and hospitals where all visitors would be checked. Rafique directed principals of medical colleges to complete the arrangements during the winter break.
