Auqaf dept: Rs1.35m given to 90 women as dowry money

BAHAWALPUR: Auqaf Department held a lucky draw on Tuesday to select 90 women who would be given funds for dowry.

Addressing the audience at the ceremony, Bahawalpur Division Zonal Dowry Committee chairperson Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti said the government had organised the dowry fund to provide relief to financially disadvantaged women and their parents. She said applications for the draw had been collected in the last nine months. The department will distribute Rs1.35 million among 90 women.
