KARACHI:

Pakistan’s Farhan Zaman moved into the quarter-finals of the 3rd Royal Lake Club Squash Open after beating compatriot Khwaja Adil Maqbool 3-0 yesterday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Despite a seemingly straightforward win, fifth seed Zaman was made to work hard in his 11-7, 11-8 and 17-15 victory over Maqbool. He will now take on India’s Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu in his last-eight match.

On the other hand, Tayyab Aslam went down 3-1 against Malaysia’s Asyraf Azan.

Both players were involved in a close contest in the first two games, which went to Asyraf, but Tayyab pulled one back by winning the third. However, Asyraf claimed victory by triumphing in the fourth game.

Meanwhile, youngster Ammar Fareed also crashed out of the tournament after a 3-0 loss.
