Armed with paintbrushes, broomsticks and dustpans, more than 300 volunteers from different universities have taken the initiative to clean up Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), disposing of garbage, medical waste and sewage as well as painting over political slogans and replacing them with inspirational and motivational messages.
Leading 'Project Jinnah', Go Green PK and Sehar Welfare Society joined hands with the city administration to uplift the hospital, which provides treatment to over 5,000 patients from all over the province every day.
"After a three-year-long struggle to get the JPMC administration's support, the volunteers were finally able to get the city commissioner on their side," Go Green PK president Faysal Soomro told The Express Tribune.
Observing the volunteers, Karachi commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui lauded their efforts. "This team is made up of the future leaders of the country," he said.
"It is a citizen's duty to do more than just complain and point at faults," said Mukee Murtaza, a former Institute of Business Management student and an active Go Green PK member.
Talking about their future plans, he said that Go Green PK was working with different hospitals to conduct more cleaning campaigns.

Tribune report about JPMC cleaning project but it has no mention that in this effort MQM parliamentarians were present there and led the momentem nicely
Being on Social media I am aware that the parliamentarian of MQM e.g Mr.,Syed Ali Raza Abidi and Irum farooqi and other MQM workers were part of this campaign and made big contribution in to it. Being an independent news papers its your responsibility to mention the name of party and their workers not to promote but just to encourage others to take part in activities for betterment of our city, if still this not highlight by the newspaper administration I deserve my right to consider them as biased or not an independent media group. I hope your administration will realize this and issue the another note related to this article.

I think Tribune correspondent forgot to mention the name of MQM legislator Syed Ali Raza Abidi who was also present at the site and took active part in the volunteer work of cleaning Jinah Postgraduate medical center. It's really a great demonstration by Mr. Ali Raza Abidi that in MQM every member is like common men and as per the directives of MQM Founder Leader Mr. Altaf Hussain all the members of MQM family are here to serve. We people of Pakistan salute to the ideology given by MQM Leader Mr Altaf Hussain to its followers. I wish and pray that others also learn from them and spend life in serving Nation instead of luxury.
Once again I salute Mr Altaf Hussain and his team.
