Negligence : Seven jail officials suspended

CHARSADDA: Seven officials of Charsadda Sub-Jail have been suspended by IGP Prisons Kifayat Khan for being negligent in their duties after a prisoner escaped on December 9. Hanifullah, a resident of Umerzai, was imprisoned for various crimes, including murder and attempted murder. He escaped from the prison on Tuesday wearing a police uniform. Following this, jail authorities went through the CCTV footage after which the jail’s superintendent lodged an FIR at City police station against prison official Daud who was on duty at the time of Hanif’s escape. Police have arrested Daud and an investigation is under way. Taking notice of the matter, IGP Prisons Kifayat Khan has suspended Charsadda Sub-Jail Superintendent Shahid Khan, Deputy Superintendent Junaid Khan, head constables Sajawal, Khalid, Mukaram, Abdur Razaq and sentry Daud for being negligent. Khan has ordered an enquiry and appointed Muzafar Khan the new superintendent and Salman Khan the new deputy superintendent.
