Lahoris come for Karachi sit-in

A group of 3 friends had come to the venue since the night before and were painting PTI colours on people’s faces

With a handbag full of PTI caps and flags hanging on his shoulder, Muzaffar Ali roamed around the sit-in at Teen Talwar. He had come all the way from Lahore a day earlier to participate in the Karachi shut-down.

If the same Nawaz-Zardari friendship continues, how can we give a better environment to [our children]? asked 70-year-old Mrs Akram, who came to the sit-in with her three granddaughters.

A Gilgit-based PTI supporter Amjad Nadeem, said he wanted to show that everyone has a right to protest, be it in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad. Even though Nadeem was wheelchair bound, he came all the way to support the Azadi march.

Meanwhile, a group of three friends had come to the venue since the night before and were painting PTI colours on people’s faces free of charge.

“I came here to support and stand for our better future,” said 10-year-old, Diya Naeem while showing a tattoo in support of PTI, painted on her hand.

A DHA resident, Muhammad Yousuf, showed off his kurta that carried some of PTI slogans, such as khuddari, azadi and insaf. “My kurta cost me Rs1,900 and I bought it especially from Lahore for today’s sit-in,” said Yousuf.

PTI president for district South, Asif Khattak, reminded the crowd that their protest at Teen Talwar held the same value as their May 12 sit-in on the same spot in 2013. He insisted that the schools and businesses had shut down voluntarily.
