Drama competition: Call for youth-friendly health services

Performers highlight public misconceptions about HIV and AIDS, and issues of transgender persons

University students on Thursday highlighted sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) through a drama competition, said a press release.


Students from Quaid-e-Azam University, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University and the Preston University took part in the theatre contest at Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Auditorium. They highlighted the need for raising public awareness of SRHR and youth friendly health services (YFHS).

The performers also highlighted public misconceptions about HIV and AIDS, and issues of transgender persons.

The performances also underlined the need for acceptance of transgender persons in society and public institutions.

Rutgers WPF Pakistan, country representative, Qadeer Baig said “The youth need guidance and understanding. They need counselling on serious issues and YFHS can play a part in youth empowerment.”
