Sidhu open to working for Pakistani comedy show
Ex-cricketer believes Indian comedians have learnt a lot from Umer Sharif.
KARACHI:
You may find his ‘LOL’ moments in a number of comedy shows annoying but that is what has made the former Indian test cricketer such a huge sensation in India’s entertainment industry. Known for his loud laughs and use of Urdu and Punjabi poetry that barely make sense, Navjot Singh Sidhu has welcomed the idea of working for a Pakistani comedy show on television.
Speaking to the correspondent of Roznama Express in Karachi, Sindu expressed his admiration of Pakistani artists and the impact they have had on the Indian stage comedy. “Pakistani theatre artists have played a key role in mushrooming stage comedy in India and many of our comedians enjoy watching Umer Sharif’s stage shows,” Singh said.
He was of the opinion that Pakistani artists such as Ali Hasan, Irfan Malik, Shakeel Siddiqui and many others have performed in India and Indian audiences have always welcomed them with open arms. And now the cricketer wants to carry on the same attitude by showing his will to embrace a Pakistani comedy show.
“I will definitely accept if a good quality Pakistani comedy show is offered to me, in fact I’ll be overwhelmed. It’s been quite some time since I visited Pakistan and, Wasim Akram, Salim Malik, Ejaz Ahmed, Waqar Younus and Javed Sheikh are some of my good friends from Pakistan”.
Currently Sindhu features on the very popular comedy show, Comedy Nights with Kapil.
