While talking to Berhard Becker, an international expert who visited FCCI earlier on behalf of GIZ, Rizwan said that FCCI had close interaction with Technical and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) and the Punjab Vocational Council (PVTC).
“But our role is just advisory in nature. Chambers should be involved in the decision-making process for the preparation of curriculum, skill standards and need-based training programmes,” he said.

“Faisalabad has 85 composite units, 30,000 shuttle-less looms, 0.2 million power looms (standard and auto) working in an unorganised sector. In addition to training manpower in 250 textile processing and 125 sizing units, we must try to cater to their HR needs as well.
“The city has a lot of progressive industrial units fully complying with international standards, but a lot needs to be done to organise the sector, “he remarked. Responding to queries raised by the German expert, he said that a pilot project like Germany-Pakistan Training Initiative (GPATI) should be initiated and the Chamber is willing to provide all necessary assistance for it.
