According to the Rangers spokesperson, the paramilitary force conducted a targeted raid in the Akal Bonga area of the old city, arresting nine hardened criminals.
The arrested culprits included target killers and extortionists affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, claimed the spokesperson.
Weapons, including Awan grenades, bulletproof jacket and a large quantity of ammunition, were also recovered, he added.
Suspects were later shifted to undisclosed location for further questioning.

@Braveheart: Yours is the only comment asking for law enforcement personnel to be from the local area. That is the only solution to alleviate lawlessness and enforcing writ of law. Nothing else will ever work.
Rangers donot represent Karachiites.They should be sent back to borders .We need our own force from the locals .
Whenever there is a news of violence increasing in Karachi and people start to wonder if operation started more than a year ago and people don't see any change then some quarters starts to play politics.
The root of the above comments lie in the fact that the rangers have hardly any representation of Karachiites. No wonder it is seen under a dread and awe not dissimilar to a foreign force. Sounds bitter undoubtedly but true nevertheless.
Unfortunately, Rangers nab MQM workers but never present them before courts and killed them in cold blood. If anyone is criminal then why do they not present him before courts?
Why do Rangers only pick-up MQM workers? That's the another perplexing question!
It's was strange few years back but now people of Pakistan realize that like police, Rangers are also politicized and most of the time they are used to crush political rivals. Recently it was also observed that not only its a law enforcement agency but also acting as as a political spokesman agency.
As a karachiet I must say it's a very bad practice which is 100% discrimination as well as targeted propaganda against MQM. It's an open challenge, Prove me wrong by naming other political party also and above all, did Rangers caught and published the names of those LEA officials who committed a crime like extrajudicial killing of MQM supprters and workers?

Besides, on your second point, Rangers have arrested numerous workers of PPP & ANP, known target killers and extortionist. How many press confrences or news releases have you seen outlining the names of groups or political parties. Its clear only one party is being malings. and why its being maligned i've explained in my comment above.

Doing these media stunts guarantees their extended stay in Karachi.
Even with all the operations, the crime rate is still very high. Even rangers dont feel safe themselves. Look at the land grab they have done in B block North Nazimabad and how they made life miserable for the all the people living and doing business around their fortress.
What can you expect from a politicized police force in sub continent. 16 hour duty, no rest, no toilets, no arrangement for even tea . The only order is you get some twenty persons along with confessional statements. The job of police has even become tougher with media, sting operation, spy camera. They cannot take hafta even in office.
According to recent stats published by Express Tribune on Karachi Operation, the highest number of weapons seized were from PPP's Aman Committe, TTP then ANP and then MQM. How come rangers don't bother naming them.
Why carry propaganda against a spcific party? Its simple to malign MQM, to hide its faulure. Will someone ask rangers to respond for over 150 + Missing MQM workers and over 40 + Workers killed extra judically after being arrested / abducted by LEA's.
They are always affiliated with MQM isn't it? until they reach the court and then you realize oh they weren't. The only reason Rangers is in Karachi is to make sure MQM doesn't rise up. I am sure this will clear up by 12th of December what the ploy actually is.
It's hilarious reading the comments of MQM supporters, who claim that MQM has no target killers and extortionists. What's funny is that MQM started the practice of extorting money from businesses in Karachi. Also, MQM has been involved in turf wars with MQM-Haqiqi, ANP, Lyari gangs and sectarian outfits for more than a decade now so obviously they maintain a terrorist wing.
Lastly, the Rangers have arrested and dislosed the affiliations of hundreds of terrorists from sectarian outfits, ANP, PPP and others. It's only when they announce the arrest of MQM terrorists that sympathisers come out and say "MQM dool se dhuli hui party hai".
Rangers have arrested thousands of MQM workers during the ongoing targeted operation but not even a single one is convicted in any crime. Let the court decide either they are innocent or terrorist. Hundreds of MQM workers have been abducted by rangers & other LEAs agencies, they all were extra judicially killed by LEAs. Why didn't they produce them in front of courts if they were criminal?

Previously too the Rangers have made claims of arresting socalled target killers as well as extortionists but dont you think it is rather strange that there has not been even a single conviction wonder why again many questions arise and the mosr relevant of them all is that is this an honest opertion or just another victimization campagin that is being run against the political party in question. if you ask me I would say yes it is.
This is not the first time that Rangers have claimed to arrest MQM affiliated terrorists, and it won't be the last time either as Rangers are always in search of finding new ways to extend their illegitimate stay in Karachi on the behest of persecuting the innocent MQM workers by allegedly involving them in various heinous crimes. It's an open secret that dozens of MQM workers have been killed extra - judicially and barbaric ways of torture by Rangers are now severe criticism. To me the latest claim by Rangers means nothing but a mere attempt of face saving and trying to divert the media attention. Even if the criminals belong to any political party, Rangers have no right to hold them under their own custody, they should present the arrested persons into the court, where the law will decide their fate. As a law abiding citizen I beg to differ with the modes opprente being used by Rangers to pressurize a political party by using these cheap tactics.
