A seven-judge larger bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, heard four different pleas, filed by PTI leader Ishaq Khan Khakwani, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Insaaf Lawyers Wing Advocate Gohar Nawaz Sindhu and Muhammad Azhar Siddiqui. The bench, however, was not satisfied with the petitioners' claim that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had lied on the floor of the National Assembly.
Moreover, the bench question what the “so-called lie” was as it maintained that there was no proof or basis for their claims.
According to the petitioners, the prime minister had asked army chief General Raheel Sharif to act as a ‘mediator’ between the government and protesting parties – the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) – and serve as a ‘guarantor’ to any agreement with the parties.
They alleged that the premier had later lied in front of Parliament and denied making any such request, and should therefore be disqualified in view of Article 63 of the Constitution.

@Real Truth: Remember the last time I gave you a stup up call. I will call it again coz you like to do personal attacks as you have got nothing on corruption or malpractices. What a shame,.
The truth is out and shining clearly... for those who want to see it..
@Hatim: No, it is just saying that PM hasn't lied, most likely because there was no clear evidence presented in the court by the plaintiffs.
@Sajjad Ashraf: What the world heard/saw were apparently conflicting statements of PM and ISPR. The world didn't saw any conspicuous evidence on which it could decide who was lying. Regardless of who the majority of people see guilty as, the Supreme court cannot deem anyone guilty in absence of clear evidence.
@MMB: The alleged lie couldn't be prove in the supreme court. Your judgement doesn't count.
@MMB: Whether he actually lied or not, the supreme court's decision implies the alleged lie couldn't be proven.
@Parvez: if sc has sentenced u any penalty without any crime then well done sc again?
I am not at all a supporter of PML-N. But as you said what we are teaching to our children; so I have to remind you that from the past 100 days we are teaching them abusive language, hatred, guiding them that they can kill anyone if they have difference of opinion; as the chapter of peace and harmony is already closed in our society. Bottom line is we are taking them back to stone age.
@Lt Col Imtiaz Alam(retd): And you are gullible enough to believe the likes of TuQ (hint: goat blood), IK (lying about his own children) ...................!!!
@Sajjad What Lie? How do you what PM said is a lie. Do you have proof of what was discussed in "Closed door" meeting between 2 people.
The whole world heard him lie...
He routinely does...
It was so obvious how did the Bench fail to see it. Imran Khan , Tahirul Qadri & all who met the COAS are witnesses to the fact that they were called by the COAS in response to a call from the PM to facilitate an agreement. The PM denied it on the Floor of the House.
@H Chaudhry: Their Lordships acted more like the Attornies of Nawaz Sharif than safeguarding public interest. Very unbecommoing.
@MMB How do you know PM Lied? Were you in the room with PM and COAS. Do you know that you are suggesting that "You think PM lied because ISPR said otherwise" so PM must have lied. Is this legal interpretation OK with you? How about that comes to you in a similar case where Court decides who is telling truth between 2 people where there was no third party. The case is dismissed on correct basis. Also what "Justice" do you speak of? Justice that you want or Justice that is correct. Looks like PTI simply wants courts to do what they think. Sorry but that is not how law works. Justice is being served correctly.
If PTI supporters are so angry at the Supreme Court for throwing out a frivolous petition, and believe that the court is in the government's pocket, why do they want a judicial commission of Supreme Court judges to probe last year's elections?
This is absolutely correct decision. I am sorry for all the people commenting here who just need to grow up and expand their knowledge. This was a "He Said She Said" issue where a Court can not and will not become party by deciding WHAT was said in a closed door meeting between 2 people. IF PM is lying that means ISPR is not lying, where is proof ISPR is not lying? If ISPR is lying that means PM is not lying, where is the proof of PM is not lying. Proof is in the room where 2 people met and had a discussion and since there is no third person to verify, COURTS CAN NOT BECOME PARTY. This is as simple legal definition as I can find. Congratulations Pakistan, country is maturing, courts are maturing and Law is prevailing. This is the change that we have gotten after 6 years of continued democracy. Its weak but growing. This is a beautiful day for law in Pakistan. Congratulations again!
Supreme Court disqualify Nawaz Sharif !!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaa no never, it's sacrilegious to even think like that
@Omer: their are few kinds of people in this country after so much injustice, those who understand that system is not just and fight for a change, those who assume system is not just and nothing can be done, those who know that system is not just but have their interests in it and finally their are those who love their chains of slavery... ...........,,,#GoNawazGo
@Omer: sorry to say, but you do not hold any argument? mind defining me, what is abusive language being used from container? If someone is corrupt, a defaulter, a money launderer.. what would you say to him? a pious and faithful man?
@Omer: Omer brother Thank you for your reply, Now you tel me. What other option have Imran Khan left?
I do want to see someone who is denied justice once, twice 3rd 4rth 5th and than time to time without govermnet even taking him serious. What options are left? Be harsh but firm to get justice or accept that it impossible to get justice? Please also remember what imran has been teaching everyone and why nation woke up. Speak always the truth and promise me you will. You will not support injustice and stand up for others who are suffering. You will remove your fears and ask help only from Allah. Whole nation has woken up and you are still considering this as hate? According to you we should shut our mouths and let injustice happen? Also this government has no moral authority and ethical values that you should offer your second cheek for second slap thinking they will realise. They will slap you harder the second time.
This is poor journalism, you have mentioned so little of what happened in the proceedings today that it gives a bad impression of the SC. Please publish a more detailed account of the proceeding as are being published by other online Pakistani media websites.
Dont understand why people are surprised by the decision. This is all the more reason that those that are not corrupt should stand up and be counted. Ask for change.
@MMB: I am not at all a supporter of PML-N.
@Umair: That is what PTI did.
Allah bless Nawaz Sharif.
Traitors...all of them havem their noses in the trough !!!
Badly contested case. PTI should have given Nawaz notice to give proof of statement in Parliament or otherwise pay them cost of dharna :D
Nawaz Sharif please keep moving! Allah and the Pakistani nation is with you.
When 18 million people can understand that the PM lied and court cannot understand it.
That means something is fishy for sure.
Brushed under the carpet!
Amazed.......the SC made a decision, right or wrong, in one sitting.......well done.
Supreme court can take Sou Motto and indict Ateega Odho for taking a wine bottle with her but wont take any notice against shareefs and their croonies for making this country a private shooting range
The supreme Court is suggesting ISPR lied.
If the courts can't see the truth than who will? Even PMLN supporters know very well he lied and they are ok with? Is this what we are teaching our childeren that lieing is to be accepted in our society because even prime minister of Pakistan does it?
