KARACHI: Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Yakoob H Karim has demanded that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) fulfill its promise of establishing a dry port in Hub, the centre of Balochistan’s trade and industry. In a statement, he asked FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa to give approval to the setting up of Pakistan’s 13th dry port in Hub to facilitate the industries of Balochistan. He said that the decision by the government had been communicated to the chamber almost a year ago in February but no work was initiated on the project. He said that following the completion of the Pak-China Economic Corridor, the importance of the proposed dry port would increase manifold. The dry port would not only curb smuggling in the province, but would also increase government’s revenue significantly, he added.
