Neglecting education

Letter December 08, 2014
There is an acute shortage of competent teachers for educating the poor and talented Pakistani youth

CADET COLLEGE, PETARO: Good education is the key weapon of any nation, but the 67-year-old Pakistan still lacks this essential necessity. Pakistan has a low literacy rate, which is insufficient to make this country prosper.

The government-run educational institutions give a deserted look and many of them have turned into breeding grounds for criminals. Underprivileged students never get to learn anything in government educational institutions. There is an acute shortage of competent teachers for educating the poor and talented Pakistani youth. Therefore, due to the governmental negligence towards educational development, the potential of our country is being wasted. The authorities should make efforts to improve our educational standards so that, as a nation, we could stand shoulder to shoulder with the developed world.
