PESHAWAR: A member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Musarrat Shah, who was also a doctor, was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists in Sardar Colony in the jurisdiction of Faqirabad police station on Sunday.

Shah was on his way to Madrassah Taleemul Quran when motorcyclists opened fire on him. He was rushed to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching there.

Police said Shah was a resident of Ziarat Kaka Sahib in Nowshera but was presently residing in Nawaz Sharif Colony. He had gotten himself enrolled at the seminary where he was a student of grade four.

After the funeral, members of JUI-F led by the party’s district ameer Khairul Bashar blocked Ring Road for traffic for at least 40 minutes in protest. The protesters demanded the arrest of those behind their fellow party member’s murder.

The protest ended when the police assured a proper investigation and arrest of the culprits.

Talking to The Express Tribune, JUI-F General Secretary Amanullah Haqqani voiced his concern over the targeted killing of his party worker. He demanded the PTI-led government provide protection to the public against target killers and other such anti-social elements.

“It is not acceptable to us that unidentified persons kill people in broad daylight and escape unnoticed,” he added.
