The police said that the suspected terrorist, identified as Mukamal Khan, 25, was a resident of North Waziristan. The police seized explosives, nine detonators and wires from his possession during the raid.
The investigation officer in the case, Sub-Inspector Tariq Rauf, said Mukamal was carrying a bag and walking near Khanna Pul when the police surrounded him.
“He was not travelling in a vehicle. He was simply walking on foot, carrying explosives,” said Rauf.
The officer said that Mukamal was a member of the TTP and had links with different militant organisations, adding that he was headed to the capital at the time of his arrest.
“It was revealed during initial investigations that Mukamal had also spent time in Afghanistan, Rauf said.
He added that the suspect has been sent to jail on judicial remand after he was produced before the court on Sunday.
