The colony, near the Shah Sikander Road, is being built 80 feet onto the land belonging to railways.
Muhammad Tahir Sheikh, a resident of the area, told The Express Tribune that the colony had been not been approved by the tehsil municipal administration (TMA).
“The developer has added the railway land in his colony. The land is worth millions of rupees,” he said.
Sajjad Khan, another resident, said that they had complained to the railway officials about the encroachment, but no action had been taken.
Zahoor Baloch, a resident of the area, earlier filed a petition in the court against the encroachment. In his petition, he said that the developer had illegally occupied land belonging to railways and Highways Department.
A court then issued a stay-order, instructing the developer to stop work on the disputed land.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Baloch said that the hearing of the case had been adjourned until December 20.
Assistant Engineer Muhammad Jahanzaib and Inspector of Works Muhammad Jahangir, who are responsible for looking after the railway land, told The Express Tribune that they had informed the higher authorities about the issue. “We have sent an application to the Dera Ghazi Khan commissioner, requesting for a survey to establish the encroachment. We will then take action against the developer,” they said.
TMO Muhammad Usman Javed told The Express Tribune that they had not yet received the documents of the colony for its registration.
“We will conduct a survey of the colony after we get formal application in this regard,” he said.
Muhammad Hashim Khossa, the developer of the colony, said that they were building the colony on their own land.
