
The committee met at the party’s provincial headquarters, Markaz-e-Islami, with its chief Dr Iqbal Khalil in the chair. A statement issued by the party after the meeting stated the committee reviewed the province’s political situation and preparations for the upcoming local government polls, which the government has announced to hold in April next year. The JI is part of the ruling coalition in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and has three ministers in the provincial cabinet.
The statement said the committee also discussed chalking out a strategy for the local bodies elections. Participants of the meeting decided the political committee will visit different districts to review poll preparations.
In the handout, Dr Iqbal Khalil said his party will fully participate in the LG polls. He demanded the government to improve the province’s law and order and put an end to power outages plaguing it. He also urged slashing transport fares in light of the reduction in prices of petroleum products.
JI’s provincial vice amir Hakim Abdul Wahid, Fata Amir Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid, political committee secretary Baharullah Khan and committee members Sahibzada Tariqullah, Sahibzada Yaqub, Sher Akbar Khan, Abdur Razzaq Abbasi and Advocate Israrullah among others participated in the meeting.
