“Imran vetoes his team’s decisions,” Iqbal said, adding the party with its ‘Plan C’ of a countrywide shutdown is trying to damage the economy.
“Why have Lahore, Karachi and Faisalabad been chosen for the shutdown,” Iqbal questioned, alleging these cities generate more than 80% export of the country.
“By disrupting supply chains, they want to create fear in importers,” the minister alleged.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on December 1 tasked Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and some other “soft-spoken” party leaders, including Ahsan Iqbal, to revive dialogue process with the PTI.
Earlier, PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi offered the government to revive the stalled negotiation process by December 6 and his party would reconsider its plans to shut down Faisalabad on December 8. However, last night Imran made it clear that his party will not change its ‘Plan C’ unless the proposed judicial commission starts investigating the alleged massive rigging in the 2013 general elections.
Imran’s party has threatened to paralyse Faisalabad on December 8, Karachi on December 12, Lahore on December 15 and then a nationwide shutdown on the 18th if an independent audit of the 2013 election is not ordered.

When requested to check 4 constituencies you didn’t do it. When PTI went to Tribunal, no justice in so-called 3 months deadline they have When they went to courts, no justice but only stay orders. When they started first four big Jalsas and asked for 4 constituencies, non serious government. When they announced 14 August rally, Government didn’t care. When they started Dharna, still no justice. When 30th November saw biggest jalsa in Pakistani history, still no justice. Next closing down cities? justice? Why not? Pakistan has witnessed hundreds of thousands PTI supporters who are Pakistanis and supporting PTI for election accountability. Why can government not at least satisfy them? Open the ballot boxes and I am sure all of them hundred thousands will be quite. Than why not? What are you hiding that you letting it go that far? Proud of Imran Khan for not giving up.
The dialogue should only be resumed if IK publicly apologise for what he did to the country. Also he should pay back billions of rupees wasted on security provided for useless concerts.
@by stander: Does ways of "decent politics" include rigging and then getting stay orders from courts to stop vote verification? Just wondering...
Same goes for Nawaz Sharif, Mr Ahsan.
The government should not give Imran Khan anymore space. He has caused a huge loss to the state, not only on economic front but has brought all the state institution into disrepute and made a laughing stock out of himself and the state and its organs. He has given calls of not giving taxes, civil disobedience, appealing to the expatriates to send money through ' hundi " and whenever some international agreement is being signed by the government ( his yesterday's speech about LNG agreement with Qatar) What message is he giving to the friendly countries? Not to have business with Pakistan? What else is enmity with the state? Why the law is not taking its course? Stop talking to him, let him do whatever he can and then the state must act and teach him respect for law and the ways of decent politics.
