Clean city: Walk held on importance of hygiene

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) on Wednesday organised a walk to raise awareness on cleanliness. Scores of sanitation Workers walked from the FWMC office to Zila Council Chowk. The participants, carrying banners and placards, chanted slogans on the importance of cleanliness. They also distributed pamphlets on the benefits of maintaining hygiene. The walk was led by FWMC managing director Amjad Ali Awan. Accounts manager Javed Hussain, operation managers Dawood Makki, Muhammad Ijaz, Company Secretary Aurangzeb Shami, communications officer Farhan Ali Qazi and a large number of waste inspectors, supervisors and workers also participated. Awan told participants that it was important to make door-to-door visits to raise awareness about cleanliness so that citizens could play an active role in maintaining hygiene in the city. He said public awareness campaigns should be regularly conducted to ensure greater outreach. He said greater efforts were needed to mobilise communities for keeping the environment clean. He said the FWMC was taken serious steps to curb pollution.
