Balochistan unrest: FC seized record caches of arms in Nov, says home minister

Terrorists transporting weapons to Balochistan due to the Zarb-e-Azb operation underway in North Waziristan

The Frontier Corps (FC) have seized huge caches of arms and ammunition during search operations in Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Lasbela and Bugti Tribal Territory during the month of November, Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said on Monday.


“At least 12 suspects arrested in connections with arms trafficking are under interrogation,” Bugti said briefing the media on the raids carried out by the paramilitary troops.

The terrorists were transporting weapons to Balochistan due to the Zarb-e-Azb operation underway in North Waziristan. It was humanly impossible to man the whole stretch of provincial and international borders of Balochistan, he said, adding that work on a trench along the Afghan border was underway. Over 400km long trench has been dug so far along the border, he said.

Commander southern Command Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua, IG Police Amlish Khan, IG Frontier Corps Maj Gen Ejaz Shahid, RPO Sardar Majeed and CCPO Quetta Abdul Razaq Cheema who were present at FC Madadgar shortly before the press conference inspected the recovered arms and ammunition.
