Nawaz better than military dictators: Zardari

Former president says PPP will deal with the PML-N when the time is right

LAHORE: Former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said his party only supported Nawaz Sharif to save democracy and because his leadership was better than a military dictator's rule.

Charged party workers chanted “Go Nawaz Go” and “Ro Imran Ro” slogans at the party's 'Foundation Day' ceremony at Bilawal House when Zardari began his speech. “I like these slogans but we supported democracy above our political interests,” Zardari said in response to the chants.

Zardari said he followed the political vision of Benazir Bhutto who understood the world of politics and ground realities very well. Taking a jibe at Imran, Zardari said the PTI leader does not have any understanding of international politics. Zardari also said the PPP would deal with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz at the right time.

"Go Wattoo Go"

Earlier, PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo had to cut his speech short as jiyalas shouted slogans of “Go Wattoo Go” during his speech.

Wattoo praised the former president for his politics of reconciliation, and assured his policies would revive the party in Punjab but the workers kept shouting and made it impossible for others to listen to his speech.

Senator Jehangir Badar who performed the duty of stage secretary also had to face the wrath of workers who were unhappy with his strategy and shouted slogans against him.

“Badar was the chief coordinator for the event and he failed in doing his job well. There were some 4,000 workers at the event in a city where a former prime minister, interior minister, several senators and senior party members live," said an attendant and party leader told The Express Tribune. "This was a flop show, and the workers showed their anger on him."

Look who is talking - Mr. 10% whose gov't is so inept that it can't even protect its people from starvation, praising the govt of NS. Perfect example of blind leading the blind. How funny.

Altaf Hussain speaks the truth. The most progress Pakistan made was in Musharraf's time. Facts and figures don't lie. The worst performance and looting of national resources has been in the times of these two jokers - Zardari and NS. No wonder they both support each other - it takes one to know one.
