Punjab assembly seat PP-48 had fallen vacant after PML-N’s Najeebullah Khan Niazi passed away earlier. Niazi was also a cousin of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan.
On Saturday, the PML-N backed independent candidate Inamullah Khan Niazi won by-elections after securing 47,593 votes.
Niazi, who is Najeebullah’s elder brother, only narrowly secured victory. Independent candidate Ahmed Nawaz Nawani lost with 47,013 votes.
However, PAT’s first foray in to electoral politics was far less spectacular. The party’s candidate, Nazar Abbas, was bottom with just 13,582 votes. The defeat is particularly heavy for PAT whose chief Dr Tahirul Qadri had spearheaded Abbas’ election campaign in the constituency.
Pakistan Peoples Party had boycotted elections in the constituency.

@Javaid: I am sure NS is !!! . You agree.?. This nation is paying the price of his popularity through their noses. Please basks in his popularity.
@Zahid:
It's not the question of dharnas going ineffective, it's the matter of traditional bond of control servitude and, hegemony of rich landlords on poor that is difficult to break out of , the evolution bring change ,unfortunately it also requires literacy, and literacy is intently kept away from poor masses to keep them subdued and obliging .
Go Imran Go and Ro Imran Ro is the call of day.. So Go out and Chant Go Imran Go and Ro Imran Ro..
There are no considerable votes of any political party in Bhakkar either PPP, PMLn or other, only electables are powerful.
@all PML-Nooras,
So, the 'massively' popular PML-N was able to win by a grand margin of 580 votes, against an Índependent' candidate. Yup, proud moment for the party.
Nawaz in govt and Pti not contending so what do you think who will win???surely Pmln
This nation will never come out of the clutches of the corrupt elite unless it is educated. Our people are not yet able to elect true and competent leaders. Such a 'Democracy' will keep us haunting until we educate our children.
Hahaha.....The commentator don't know the difference between PAT and PTI. PAT participated in the elections. But PTI boycotted the elections.
Where are PTI trolls .....? gone deaf and dumb
For PAT it indicate weak leadership qualities of Tahir Ul Qadri.
LOL @ the ridicuolous comments against PTI. Who was PTI's candidate there and how did PTI lost an election when it didn't even participate? Talk some sense.
yeah, because they don't held elections on facebook or twitter. if they do hold elections on FB/twitter, PTI/PAT can create duplicate accounts, ask their 2 years kids to like the page and win the election :)
Ro Imran ro
@Malik: TuQ not joining Nov 30th protest in Islamabad. So he does not think there was rigging in this constituency. Other wise he would do dharna with the dharna king
Pakistan still have more ignorant people...
@malik: Yup PMLN is still the most popular party BUT only when PTI aint contending. Dude if there were as sure as you are, they wouldn't have minded opening them boxes.
If PTI doesn't win, it's usually rigging !!! Get a life Imran Khan, and stop thinking so highly of yourself, you ARE NOT that popular !
Where are the PTI trolls. PMLn continues to win, even after PTI through its independent candidate and PAT through its candidate contested elections. Clearly shows the masses are still with PMLn
Proof that dharnas and full rallies don't translate in to votes. Good luck Imran for 2018 now that you have completely messed up your reputation and chances fir next time. People like good party and fun but don't vote accordingly.
These sorts of things happen in elections. In Bhakkar elections aren't won on a party-basis. They are won by landlords. The Niwani group and Niazi group have always had a stronghold in these areas. Niwanis have been in power for 30 years. The fact that PAT managed to score 14k votes is good, I was expecting 3-4k from them in PP-48 which is stronghold of Niwanis.
They must now try to build on this if they want to become a political force In PK and constantly stay in the process.
I was checking some stats and found that the top candidates in the general elections secured 33K and 32k votes respectively how did they etch out more in a by-election??
Susu nami flushed lol ...
PMLN still most popular party ..
Rigging ho gae..... IK ki logic
