Protecting Women: 1213 helpline opens in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: City Police Officer Sohail Tajik on Saturday inaugurated a helpline for women facing violence or abuse. Tajik said women calling the 1213 helpline would be functional round-the-clock and would be operated by women. He said the helpline would also provide assistance to women needing medical treatment. He said if needed officers would be sent to their homes to take them to hospitals.  The helpline centre was inaugurated by the governor’s wife Parveen Sarwar at Kotwali police station. Appreciating the efforts of Faisalabad police, she said women made up half of Pakistan’s population but were threatened in public and private spaces. She said she hoped the helpline would help curb violence against women and enable them to report abuse without fear.
