Six dead, 58 injured in Punjab road accidents

VEHARI/ LAHORE: Six people died and over 58 got injured in separate road accidents in Lahore and Vehari on Friday, Express News reported.

In Lahore, three children died while 28 others got injured when a school bus plunged into a ravine near Kahna area of Ferozepur Road, Lahore on Friday.

A private school’s van was on way to drop the children off to their homes when due to over speeding it fell into the Roohi Nullah while making a turn. As a result, 28 children got injured.

The locals while using their own resources rescued the children from the nullah and shifted them to a nearby hospital where three of them succumbed to their wounds.

Two of the deceased children have been identified as Anees and Hasham.

Police said about 150 children were present in the bus during the accident, whereas two of them are still missing, and a search operation to find them is underway.

The bus driver managed to flee from the scene after the accident.

Meanwhile, three people were killed while 30 others injured when a passenger bus, enroute to Multan from Pakpattan, collided with another vehicle in Vehari.

The bus was on Multan Road when the driver swerved for unknown reason, colliding with an oncoming bus.

Injured passengers were removed from the vehicles and transported to District Headquarters Hospital Vehari, while others were shifted to THQ Hospital, Multan.

Of the 30 injured passengers, 10 are reportedly in critical condition.
