Redressing issues: Committee formed to look into Thar situation

KARACHI:

Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani finally formed a four-member parliamentary committee to visit the drought-hit Tharparkar district where more than 500 children have died this year.

The committee will investigate the prevailing condition and suggest measures so that such a situation can be avoided in the future. The committee was made in view of opposition leader Shaharyar Mahar's resolution adopted by the assembly on November 11. According to a notification issued by Sindh Assembly secretary GM Umar Farooq, the committee, comprising Ameer Hyder Shah Shirazi of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz, Saeed Nizamani of Pakistan Muslim League - Functional, Zafar Kamali of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Dr Mahesh Malani of Pakistan Peoples Party, will visit different areas of Thar and submit the report in the next assembly session.
