This or that?: White-out black magic

Celebrities had every reason to be all smiles on the red carpet at the unbroken premiere at Odeon Leicester Square.

Katy Perry took the all-black trend to a whole new level at the red carpet when she stepped out Wednesday night for the 2014 Australian Record Industry Association Awards in Sydney. She was in top form and a lot of hearts blacked out. And while we thought noir is superb for a winter night, Angelina proved us wrong. Jolie donned an all-white hot frock and had every reason to be all smiles on the red carpet at the unbroken premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square.

Hair and make-up

The singer rocked an intricately done braided updo that was held in place with a headband. To complete her bold, purple-piped vibe, Perry added a deep eggplant statement lip. The rest of the make-up was kept passive with just a hint of bronzer, contouring up the look.

Outfit

Perry’s two-piece number, by Australian designer Jaime Lee, featured a belly-baring design and a long, pencil skirt. The Dark Horse singer flashed her Aussie fans a high-watt smile and a bit of her taut midriff, while clad in a halter top and a netted skirt that fitted the star better than a glove. The addition of black and purple floral appliqués plus the intricate, hand-beaded embellishments gave the shimmery ensemble a sophisticated vibe.

Accessories and shoes

Perry surely did not forget her accessories at home. The pop princess complemented the black-lilac superfluities on her two-piece with royal purple pumps and long earrings. She also added a knotted metallic blue headband that gave her a chic edge.

Hair and make-up

The Oscar-winning superstar had her hair swept up into a neat bun and flaunted skin that looked luminous as ever. Minimal make-up was just the way to go with the ensemble and did she get it right. A light cherry blush and kohl-rimmed eyes added to the muted-glam get-up.

Outfit

Donning a Ralph & Russo couture piece, Angelina stunned. The gorgeous neck-pleat detail could only be a result of elaborately put-together tailoring. The addition of the bolero shoulder-cape was perfectly on-trend. The designer crafted the pencil dress with summer in mind, but the Salt star was a vision in white this chilly season.

Accessories and shoes

She accessorised her outfit with diamond earrings and her trademark smile. The glamorous star matched her look with a pair of understated nude pumps with rounded toes, which off-set the outfit impeccably. A red-flower brooch adorning her dress polished off the entire look.
