SIALKOT: After a brief pause, Indian army on Thursday allegedly resumed 'unprovoked’ firing and mortar shelling near the Charwa sector on the Line of Control (LoC), attacking a check post of Chenab Rangers, Express News reported.

"The attack took place at 8.20am," confirmed Pakistan Army officials.

Chenab Rangers promptly and effectively responded to the assault.

No casualties were reported from either side of the LoC.

Exchanges of sporadic fire are common along the de facto border dividing the region, despite a ceasefire pact signed in 2003.

Recently on November 21, a Pakistani soldier was killed when Indian forces violated the ceasefire in Pandu Sector near Muzaffarabad, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
