LHC admits petition challenging Gullu Butt's prison sentence

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday admitted a petition challenging the prison sentence awarded to Model Town vandal Gullu Butt, Express News reported.

On October 30, an anti-terrorism court sentenced Butt to 11 years and three months in jail on the account of vandalism in Model Town. He was also ordered to pay a Rs0.1 million fine.

Butt was caught smashing windscreens and windows of vehicles outside the Minhajul Quran International Secretariat on June 18, during a clash between Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers and the police.

Butt's lawyer had said that the sentence was too harsh and had requested the court to make the sentence ineffective with immediate action.
