International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony have agreed to introduce an Arabic language training course in the varsity.

This was agreed in a meeting between IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and the religious ministry’s adviser Professor Sajjad Qamar who called on the IIUI president on Tuesday.

During the meeting, it was agreed that mutual cooperation in training of Arabic would be extended and for this purpose a committee was constituted which would prepare recommendations and guidelines for preparation of Arabic language curriculum and training courses in all the provinces. In addition, it would also work on establishing an institution which would supervise the programmes.

Speaking on the occasion, Al-Draiweesh lauded the efforts of religious minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and assured that the university is fully committed for the project.

Qamar thanked the varsity president for his assurance of cooperation and practical steps regarding the programme.

The varsity will also hold a seminar today on the Al-Aqsa mosque issue at its new campus. The chief guest of the event, being organised by the Faculty of Islamic Studies, will be the Palestinian cultural attaché Husni Abu Ghosh. The seminar starts at 11:30am in Imam Abu Hanifa Block’s auditorium, Sector H-10.
