Unblock YouTube!

We are only harming ourselves by depriving our students of valuable educational content online

RAWALPINDI: Can someone please tell me what happened to parliament’s plans of lifting the sanctions on YouTube some time back? What is stopping the implementation of parliament’s orders in this regard? I do not know about others, but I am being denied a wealth of scientific and literary knowledge because I have not been able to access YouTube freely in a long time.

If the ban is in place because of objectionable material on the website, then I would just like to say that such material is also present on other websites — which remain operational. Banning a website like YouTube, which has so much utility, is just a very silly measure. Keeping the lid on YouTube has not stopped shamelessness or heresy. We are only harming ourselves by depriving our students of valuable educational content online. I hope the government takes steps to reactivate YouTube soon.
