ISI chief, PM Nawaz discuss security challenges as NATO prepares to pull out of Afghanistan

Rizwan Akhtar, premier discuss matters related to internal and external security

ISLAMABAD:
Head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Rizwan Akhtar on Monday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed matters related to internal and external security particularly withdrawal of Nato troops from Afghanistan, Express News reported.

General Akhtar took the reins of ISI on November 7 and this was his second meeting with the premier after assuming charge.

During the meeting, which lasted for an hour, Akhtar and PM Nawaz discussed national issues as well as security challenges faced by the country.

The premier will be attending South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation summit this week which follows some of the worst cross-border violence in Kashmir in a decade, and comes as Nato-led troops prepare to pull out of Afghanistan, intensifying the India-Pakistan rivalry as the countries vie for influence there.
