Stylist Saeeda Mandviwalla shares new hair styles to suit different occasions this season

KARACHI: To take a sneak-peak at new hairstyles which will be all the rage on the ramp, The Express Tribune speaks to Toni&Guy Karachi-Pakistan  creative artistic director Saeeda Mandviwalla about her take on the trendiest and most happening hairstyling looks for this winter. She will also be styling three celebrities, in fashions latest hair looks, one each day at Fashion Pakistan Week which kicks off November 25.

Ready for a hairstyle shake up, from undone up-dos to effortless waves we ask Mandviwalla what the ultimate hairstyle comprises for this upcoming season. “A great start to winter hair looks are warm tones of deep browns, bordeaux and walnut shades with subtle hints of caramel combined with balayage highlights,” answers Mandviwalla. In her opinion, Balayage is the new way of hair colour as well as colour blushing. It takes a seamless tone of colour from dark to light with blackcurrant or blues tones to enhance hair styles of loosely braided up dos, sleek side partings with a straight classic shine as well as knots and high twists for a glamorous party.



It is often said that the only thing that remains constant in the world of fashion is change. Fashion changes every season, and with that hair trends as well, though some may revive over the years and some trends may be tweaked but, the fact is, every season adds its own look and flavour to the trend.  Rest assured, she shares that this season’s hair trends are very diverse in style. “This season’s style is very different from the previous, as its autumn-winter which is usually the time for many formal occasions and events including weddings, Christmas, New Year get-togethers. The last thing you want to do is show up somewhere with a hairstyle that was popular last season or worse — is completely off the fashion radar.”



Mandviwalla further elaborated that the casual and everyday look comprises of, “Effortless texture and natural movement, using sea salt texturising spray with oatmeal to nourish the hair.” A more formal look, something that could be worn at a lunch or dinner has to be sleek with smooth lengths created with shine gloss serum meeting the cool arctic climatic at the end of the year. The perfect glamour look for the red carpet or a wedding would be, “Head-turning volume created with plumping whip meeting an elegant shimmery dress for a bold statement,” says Mandviwalla.

Even though the classic look has been donned by almost every woman throughout the year, one wonders if the seasonal change is going to affect the timelessness of this look. “The word classic is timeless so the trend comes back repetitively, always having lasting significance. So this trend will always be there for every season and every fashion-inspired event,” she says.
